Kyoto people will tell you that there is no better way to enjoy the best of Kyoto than by biking. Kyoto is an ancient city filled with narrow lanes and charming back streets that ooze history. Where buses or even cars cannot go, you can go with our biking tours.

To make sure you don't miss anything, a professional English-speaking guide who will be a fascinating source of information from an informed personal perspective, will accompany you. You can simply leave your guidebooks and maps in your suitcase. With this tour you won't need them!! While your tour is designed to take you to some of the city’s most cherished and revered sites, the real beauty is that you will have a guide who will add the kind of dimension and perspective you could never hope to get were you to do a biking tour on your own.

The following tours were exclusively programmed for the Hotel Granvia Kyoto and are run by the Kyoto Cycling Tour Project(KCTP).

1.World Heritage Sites and Gion Cycling Tour
This is a wonderful tour taking you to two World Heritage sites and through the lovely old Gion district with its charming streets and fascinating architecture. It is a step back in time to the Kyoto of yore. You’ll stroll along the famed Shirakawa Canal, traverse cobblestoned streets, and visit a cherished old Shinto Shrine where Kyotoites come to pray for finding a good partner or breaking off from a bad one. There are plenty of craft and souvenir shops to visit as well.

2. Uniquely Kyoto Cycling Tour

Uniquely Kyoto Course This fascinating tour takes you beyond some of the major historical sites to the cultural side of Kyoto. You will enjoy textile production and Yuzen dyeing. At the last stop of the tour, you will be able to create your own T-shirt using Yuzen dyeing techniques. The Kyoto Cycling Tour Project has chosen this route because it is not only a great ride, but takes you through parts of the city not generally known to tourists.

3.Kyoto Half-Day Cycling Tour - Off the Beaten Path !

 

Step off the beaten path and revel in the discovery of the true daily life of Kyotoites !This short, half-day cycling course will take you off the beaten path and into the quaint local streets of Kyoto. Besides visiting the amazing Sanjusangendo Temple, you will visit the historic ‘Gion’ district, passing by the beautiful Shirakawa stream. After cycling further up to the Heian Shrine, the tour will conclude at the famous historic Nishiki Market, affectionately known as ‘Kyoto’s Kitchen’. After that, you will be on your own to meander through this fascinating food market and enjoy the thrill of picking up delicious local finger foods that are guaranteed to satisfy your appetite.
